A year ago, I never thought I would be writing a page talking about how much I love the use of aromatherapy and essential oils for anxiety relief. I certainly never thought I would be an ambassador for a company that makes aromatherapy pens. I didn’t even know what aromatherapy or a “pen” was!
But now here I am, using essential oils and believing in them in them so much that I want to share with my readers who are looking for natural tools to promote calm how great I think they are. I think that essential oils are one of nature’s ways of helping us help ourselves. They have been used for myriad health issues over the centuries and, at least in modern times, anxiety relief and smoking cessation are among the more popular reasons for trying them and will be my focus for this post. Some people try to use vaping as a way to quit smoking which can work.
I believe so strongly in the benefits of essential oils that I want to share with you how I use them and implement them into my daily life so that you can consider trying them in your life as well. In this post I discuss my favorite way of using essential oils, which is via personal diffusers, but there are other ways as well, such as room diffusers, car diffusers, special jewelry, etc. I will be writing more posts in the future about the other various ways to use oils, and in the meantime there is a ton of good information on-line that you can check into via Google to help you find a method of use that appeals to you.
My Favorite Way to Use Essential Oils
MONQ is a line of 7 portable heated essential oil diffusers, each with its own blend designed to create its own specific mood. They are attractive, light weight, portable, and so easy to use that they are hands down my favorite way to use oils. They are also a little more expensive than the other ways to use oils, but for me, the convenience makes them worth the price. They run about 20.00, but with the package deals MONQ provides, you can save a lot of money and bring the price down.
I discovered MONQ last year while looking for an anxiety-related product to review, and I was so impressed with MONQ, that I not only wrote the review but I agreed to become an ambassador for their product. I believe very much that this device can help steer people toward the mood they are looking for. I also think it is an awesome tool to help people transition from smoker to non smoker and I want to let my readers know about it so they can decide if it is something they want to try.
Just to give you a brief rundown, my preferred blend is Zen, because I feel it goes the longest way toward giving me a sense of calm and well-being and there are tons of great reviews on MONQ’s website that lead me to believe others agree. The Zen blend contains Orange, Frankincense and Ylang Ylang which all have a long history of being used for their calming properties. The Zen Pen smells AMAZING just holding it up to your nose, without even taking a puff from it. I pick mine up and just smell it probably 20 times a day while sitting here at my desk writing…it smells that good. (Of course for the truest essential oil benefits, you have to puff from it and exhale it through your nose.)
In addition to Zen, there are 6 other essential oil MONQ blends to choose from as well: Sleepy, Happy, Active, Healthy, Sexy, and Vibrant with the resulting mood of each blend listed in the graphic I made on the left or below depending on what device you are on.
Each diffuser is recyclable, and there is no charging or adding batteries necessary. You simply open the package and take a little puff from the diffuser, pause for a few seconds, then blow it out your nose. That is it. There is no need to inhale the vapor deep into your lungs because it works best with your nose’s olfactory nerve endings. This is definitely the easiest way to use aromatherapy that I have ever tried. No mixing or blending or anything of that sort, which is one of my favorite things about it.
How Is MONQ Used For Anxiety?
MONQ is not specifically targeted toward those with an anxiety disorder diagnosis, however via social media, word of mouth quickly spread among MONQ users who had noticed a decrease in their anxiety symptoms and an increase in their feelings of well being after using MONQ…..especially the Zen Blend which contains certain essential oils known to promote a feeling of calm.
Do you ever get racing thoughts, or feel really overwhelmed and need something natural to give you a “time out” for a few moments? That is what the Zen blend helps me out with. The smell is amazing and the overall feeling I get is one of calm, contentment and happiness. It’s nothing dramatic, but it does give me a nice peaceful feeling when I find a quiet spot to take a few minutes for myself and use it. I mostly use mine when I am reading and doing what I call “introverting”, to sort of “enhance” my quiet time. Some people drink wine with a good book… when I read, I often use my essential oil diffuser.
If you have social anxiety, MONQ is a great tool because you just toss it in your bag or pocket and take it with you to use during those times when you need to regroup and slow your thoughts and I LOVE that about it as well. It’s a bit of a security blanket for me that I don’t always use but it’s so great to have for those times when my nerves are getting the best of me.
Can MONQ Help You Give Up Cigarettes?
Smoking cessation is a topic of huge importance to me because I lost my mother and my father…both former smokers…..to cancer. I am a former smoker myself, and as soon as I tried MONQ for the first time, I felt strongly that it could be a good tool for people to use when trying to quit smoking.
It has the size and shape of a cigarette. It looks a lot like an e-cigarette actually, with an end that lights up. However it has no tobacco, nicotine or added chemicals. Only the essential oils. When you exhale the vapory mist, it reminds you of the smoke from a cigarette, so it just gives you that same overall sensation that smoking a cigarette would give – even though you don’t inhale it into your lungs.
As far as price comparison to cigarettes goes, I think cigarettes run about $6.00 a pack now and a MONQ should last you 2-3 weeks if you use it as directed, which is just a few times a day. You don’t want to puff on it all day long like a cigarette because first of all, who could afford that? Second of all, essential oils were not meant to be used in that amount because it could potentially make you ill, and third, you really don’t need to use it more than that. If you use it just to get you through those rough cravings that hit you out of the blue, 3-4 times a day, it should be a big help and last long enough to get you through a few weeks, saving you a fairly decent amount of money when compared to the cost of cigarettes.
I think the Zen blend would be best for quitting smoking because it does have the calming essential oil blend, although I can see any of the blends being helpful if just having the “feel” of a cigarette is something you desire the most in a cessation product.
As far as the Zen blend goes, not much causes more anxiety related symptoms then trying to give up cigarettes so anything that can naturally help calm your mind during the process is a good thing. In addition, the fact that the MONQ pens are organic, free of chemicals, and nicotine free makes them a choice definitely worth considering when it comes to alternatives to cigarettes.
MONQ’s website has a great FAQ section which you can find at the bottom of their home page that provides more info on this product and includes a Safety Statement. Their website also gives detailed information about the specific oils that are in each MONQ blend and has a lot of reviews from verified buyers.
I encourage you to read through all of the reviews and info that MONQ provides, to decide if it’s right for you before trying this product.
Basically I just love MONQ because it’s unique, and useful and I can’t think of anything else like it out there and if you are looking for a natural way to calm your anxiety and/or quit smoking, I recommend giving MONQ a try.
